Shopping hours and Mode of Payment

All the shops remain open from Monday to Saturday, including food shops. On the other hand all shops remain closed on Sunday. But the shopping malls remains open seven days a week, so while you plan your shopping in Hungary, you need to keep this in mind. On the other hand most of the shops remain open till afternoon on Saturdays, so if you drop in on Saturdays, you need to plan your shopping accordingly, depending on your need.

Most of the shops accept all major credit and debit cards. ATM's are there in all major cities, so you need not worry if you run short of cash while shopping in Hungary. Both debit and credit cards can be used for extracting money from ATM and no extra charge is required for that. But if you plan to buy goods from markets, then it is better to carry some cash with you, as small shops always do not accept credit or debit card. Travelers check is also accepted and in order to avoid extra charge, it is advised to take checks either in Euro or in US Dollars.
