You can also taste some traditional fruit brandies like palinka which is typical to this region. The cellar is actually a part of the huge labyrinth system under the Buda Castle. During your visit to this cellar, you can have a look at the remains of the 13th century religious residence of Dominica and an ancient monastery. The place has a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, making it the most suitable place to taste different kinds of wine. Chain Bridge

Chain Bridge is one of the other historical sites, which you can visit during your trip to the country and is one of the things to do in Hungary. This is actually a suspension bridge which hangs above the Danube River and is situated in between the capital city of Budapest.

This bridge was built in 1849 and it was the first permanent bridge of the country. Due to this unique type of construction, this bridge is one of the famous places of tourist attraction. Holocaust Memorial Center

The place where the Holocaust Memorial Center is now situated was previously a synagogue and after the museum was built in 2004, the synagogue was restored in the museum. Things to do in Hungary are incomplete, without dropping in at the famous historical museum. It is also known as the Holocaust Museum and is of great importance as it is the place where mass extermination of the Jews took place under the Nazi rule. But some people do not believe that such extermination took place.

A permanent exhibition takes place in the museum which tells about the history of the Jews in Hungary and it also provides some information about the gypsies or Roma as they are popularly known as. The exhibition provides the detail regarding the incidents that took place during World War II and the role of the people of Hungary and the position of the Jews at that time in the country. Both Hungarian and English languages are used in the museum, so it is not a problem for foreign tourists. You are allowed to enter the synagogue after the exhibition ands and you can click pictures also if you wish.

Fisherman's Bastion

Fisherman's Bastion is one of the most popular tourist destination situated at the Castle District. It was built between 1895 and 1902 and it is a tower along with a terrace. In fact, it is a combination of seven towers which offers wonderful view of Duna, Pest, Gellert Hill etc. The seven towers represent the seven tribes of Magyar that settled in the Carpathian basin during 896. The place is named so because it was a group of fishermen who was responsible for defending and protecting the city during Middle Ages. This structure consists of terraces and winding stairs and paths.
